A Message from Dickie Drake, Newly-Elected State Representative, District 45
My wife, Anita, joins me in expressing my gratitude to the people of District 45 for the confidence they vested in me Tuesday by electing me as their new representative in the Alabama House of Representatives. As you know, my brother, Owen, held this seat from 2006 until his death last June. I will strive to be the kind of leader Owen was, putting principle before Party and representing all of the people of District 45 fairly and honestly.
To my opponent, Paige Parnell, I offer my congratulations for getting in the arena to discuss the issues important to St. Clair and Jefferson Counties. We both ran a hard-fought race, and I ask for her support in the days ahead as we work to improve the economy and bring jobs and growth to District 45.
I take my new assignment in Montgomery seriously. We must focus on lowering the unemployment rate, making state government more streamlined and efficient, improving the delivery of education and expanding our efforts to attract business to Alabama. It's a momentous task, but I pledge to put people before politics in accomplishing these goals.
I look forward to working with Governor Robert Bentley and Speaker Mike Hubbard. They have shown a vision for making Alabama an ideal place to live, work, raise a family and retire.
My door will always be open to you. I will welcome your ideas and listen to your concerns. Effective leaders are those who hear from and respond to the people back home.
Thank you again for your support.
Sincerely,
Dicke Drake
